Thank you to all of you who circulated and signed my nomination papers.  We received signatures from EVERY municipality in the district.  From Athens to Antigo…and Harrison(Marathon County) to Harshaw.   Thanks!

At the heart of Wisconsin’s poor economy is fiscal irresponsibility in Madison.  The Doyle deficits have led to increased taxes driving jobs from Wisconsin.

One of the solutions to getting the state’s finances together is not raiding segragated funds like the transportation fund.  You can see a letter I recently wrote on the subject in the Wausau Daily Herald, Merrill Courier and Tomahawk Leader.

Today I received notification of the endorsement of Wisconsin Right to Life.  In their letter of endorsement, Wisconsin Right to Life states, “We appreciate your strong support for legislative initiatives that would enhance the sanctity of human life and your opposition to measures that would demean human life”.

Just as in 2008, I am appreciative of WRTL’s endorsement and stand committed to the protection of human life.

A group of residents from the district, including Rosie and JoAnn, asked to meet at Champs in Merrill this week.  We had a far-ranging conversation discussing policy issues including the deficit, the DNR and job creation in Wisconsin.

All in attendance are alarmed at the course the current political leadership in Madison is taking us.  They recognize continued deficit spending is unsustainable and will lead to more job losses in Wisconsin and in Lincoln County.

Starting today I will be announcing endorsements that my campaign for state assembly receives.  The first endorsement that I am proud to receive is from Wisconsin Family Action.  WFA focuses on strengthening families to create a better society.

The demands on government are lessened with strong self-sufficient families.  I will work tirelessly as your state representative to promote fiscal responsibility, rewarding work and protecting traditional American family values.

The Langlade County Dairy Breakfast was a big success this year.  The Mackiewicz family had their farm spiffed up on a beautiful Sunday morning.

It was a lot of fun helping local volunteers serve breakfast to all the nice folks.  Thanks to Joni Tucker for forwarding the picture.

What a great story with a local angle at JSOnline.  Zelazoski Wood Products of Antigo is producing the bats Corey Hart of the Brewers is using.  Hart’s hot streak started a month ago when he switched to a RockBat produced in Antigo.

Ron and Sue Thompson of Harshaw joined me for a Northwoods get-together on Tuesday night.  After a hot day it was fun to join friends like Ron and Sue for refreshments and good political discussion about fixing Wisconsin’s economy.

An Oshkosh Northwestern editorial from June 1st details quite clearly the impact of the auto insurance mandates inserted into the state budget last year.

Mandates that drive up the cost of living in Wisconsin, like the auto liability provision, are as much of the problem with state government as high taxes.  I will vote to fix the auto insurance mandate contained in last year’s budget if elected in November.

It was a privilege to walk the Antigo Memorial Day Parade on Monday morning. Along with the Antigo Band and other parade participants we marched to the Langlade County Courthouse from Eastview Rehabilitation Center. Joe Czarnecki did a find job as master of ceremonies with presentations by Mike Richling, Steve Kafka and others.

I hope all of you had a chance to attend a Memorial Day ceremony…they are a solemn, moving experience.
